Lunchtime League Final P.4/P.5
Lunchtime League Final
Croke Park has hosted some classic finals throughout the years, all of which pale in comparison to the Faughanvale PS Lunchtime League finals. On Friday, the pupils took to the pitch for yet another unforgettable Lunchtime League Final. Derry faced Donegal in a game a final for the ages.
Donegal found themselves in a comfortable early lead. Ben was dictating the game in the middle of the park and Ollie proved to be a constant headache for the Derry defenders. Jake denied Derry several early goals through some fantastic saves. Odhran Lynch will be fighting for his place on the Derry panel after Jake’s performance.
Derry soon fought back and pulled the game within a point by half time. Darragh was a juggernaut in the middle of the park and kicked some incredible scores for the oakleaf county. He was aided by the excellent skills of Mia and Farrah, who were both sensational on the day.
In the second half the two teams exchanged scores in a nailing biting game of Gaelic football. Ryan and Ruariadh were sensational for Donegal at the back and managed to prevent Derry from running away with the game.
In the final minute the P6/P7 cheered the pupils on and created a fantastic atmosphere. Donegal sent the Faughanvale Hill 16 wild with two late goals to clinch victory. Derry fought valiantly until the end but the Lunchtime League will be heading to the hills of Donegal after a great game of football.
